Farmer’s Almanac Winter 2022
The Farmer’s Almanac Winter 2022.
January
January will be a month of extreme temperature swings and weather, with both the coldest and warmest periods of the winter. On average, temperatures will be 1-2˚F lower than normal in areas that normally have their coldest periods in January (generally northern states). However, it won’t get as chilly as you might expect because we’re going to see periods of below normal precipitation across most states. This means you’ll see more days without rain or snow than usual—good news for those who prefer sunshine over precipitation!
The drier conditions will help your lawn stay green and healthy during this time period—but only if you water it regularly! If you let the grass dry out too much, you could experience brown patches or other damage to your lawn. On top of that, skipping out on watering could lead to weed growth which can become unmanageable quickly if not kept in check early on. To keep weeds at bay throughout all parts of your yard (and garden), consider using preemergent weed killer before planting any new plants or seeds this spring; this type of herbicide prevents seed germination without affecting existing plants like grasses because they’re still dormant at this time year round anyway! February
February is the second month of winter, the shortest month of the year, and it’s also the month of Valentine’s Day.
February is known for Groundhog Day, Chinese New Year, Mardi Gras and many other events that happen around this time.
March
March is the third month of the year in the Gregorian calendar. It is also the first month of spring in the Northern Hemisphere and autumn in the Southern Hemisphere.
The name March comes from Latin Martius, which means “of Mars,” a reference to Mars, a Roman god associated with spring.[1]
The Romans considered March an appropriate time for planting seeds and storing grain,[2] as well as for military training.[3] The latter may be why March was named. According to Roman mythology, March was derived from Marcus Annaeus Lucanus (c. 39 AD – 65 AD), also known as Marcius Annaeus Lucanus or Martialis; he was born at Bilbilis on April 1st 45 BC but died in Rome on December 14th 65 AD at 82 years old.[4][5][6] He wrote Epigrams (Greek ἐπῳδαι epopoiiai) about social life under Nero’s reign (54–68).[7]
March has been known by several names throughout history:
