Community Supported Agriculture Columbia Sc

Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) is a growing movement in Columbia, SC and all over the world. Our mission at Columbiana Farm is to provide our customers with fresh, local produce each week that is not only good for your body but also supports the community as a whole. We hope you’ll join us and experience the benefits of eating fresh, local food!

What is CSA?

CSA is a way for the consumer to get fresh, local food while supporting local farmers. A CSA allows you to purchase shares of produce directly from the farmer at harvest time, which in turn provides a guaranteed income for the farmer. By purchasing shares, you are also supporting your community and its food system.

Common Questions

The CSA is a community-based, market-to-consumer program where consumers can buy shares in a farm’s harvest. CSAs are an alternative to the supermarket or grocery store model because they allow you to buy your produce from local farmers who are directly involved in producing it.

Common questions about CSAs:

  • What is Community Supported Agriculture?
  • How does a CSA work?
  • How do I sign up?
  • What is the difference between a CSA and a farm share or farm box?

How do I get started?

  • Sign up for a membership.
  • Pay for the season.
  • Pick up your share each week.

That’s it! You are now part of a community that supports family farmers and gets fresh, local food every week to enjoy.

What makes our CSA program different?

  • We are a small, family-run operation. We have four acres of land and grow over 100 varieties of vegetables each year. Our crops are not grown using pesticides or chemical fertilizers, but rather organically and sustainably.
  • We believe in the power of fresh produce to nourish your body and mind. When you eat our food, you know where it came from because we work hard to make sure you do!
  • Our CSA members get first pick on what is harvested each week so that they can pick their own favorite items for their weekly share boxes. In addition to providing fresh produce every week or two (depending on the season), we also provide eggs from our chickens as well as milk from our goats when available too!

Farmer Connection

  • Learn more about the farmer’s life.
  • Ask questions.
  • Ask about the farm and the food.
  • Ask about sustainability practices, community relationships, and land relationships.

Ask how they treat their animals and how they work with them in every day practices to enhance their lives on the farm while still producing delicious meat products for you to enjoy at home!
