Graettinger – A strong local crowd of bidders and live internet bidding competed for the many items offered at Burlage Peterson Auction’s annual fall consignment auction on September 19, 2020.
The auction featured a strong local crowd of bidders and live internet bidding competed for the many items offered. The 2010 Dodge Challenger SRT8 Convertible was an early highlight, reaching a final bid of $30,000. A wide selection of tractors and farm equipment were also well-represented in the sale with several consignments reaching strong prices.
The sale saw many buyers come to the auction site and also register for a live bid during the sale.
- Bidding is done in person, online or through a live bid.
- Bidding during the sale is done in real time.
- The bidding process uses an auctioneer who conducts the sale and calls out bids for each item as they are called up by name.
- The bidding process can also be done using a silent auction where buyers write their bid on a piece of paper and hand it to an auctioneer when they want to place their bid on an item. This method allows buyers to place bids at any time throughout the course of the sale without needing to speak out loud; however, it does not allow for instant results like live bidding does because bidders have not yet seen what other potential buyers have offered for similar items nor do they know how much competition there will be going forward (i.e., if someone else ends up placing higher bids).
- Another option available is live internet auctions which take place online but with real-time results so people watching from home know immediately if their bid has been successful or not; this also allows them more privacy than other methods since they don’t need anyone else taking notice while they’re trying to win something!

Bidding was very active all day long on the over 1300 lots that were offered, with almost all items selling to the highest bidder. The auction house’s staff worked diligently to attract a large crowd of bidders from across the country; and they were not disappointed by their efforts.
The auction was held in conjunction with another event hosted by Burlage Peterson Auctioneers in Hastings, Minnesota on July 12th through 15th – “A Sesquicentennial Celebration: 150 Years of Collecting & Heritage Preservation”. The theme of this year’s event is “Celebrating Our Past Through Our Present” – highlighting historical treasures from across North America…
