Broad Breasted Bronze Turkey
Broad Breasted Bronze Turkey
In the United States, turkey is a popular holiday dish. It’s often thought of as the main course, but it can also serve as an appetizer or side dish. Turkeys have been farmed for hundreds of years and many different varieties exist. Some turkeys are raised specifically for their meat while others are kept as pets or used in other ways. The broad breasted bronze turkey is one such variety that has been bred specifically for meat production.
Origins
The origins of the Broad Breasted Bronze Turkey are unknown, but it is thought that they were developed in the United States by crossbreeding wild turkeys with domestic breeds like the White Holland. The broad breasted bronze turkey was first recognized as a breed in 1935 and was later adopted by the USDA for commercial use in 1940.
Characteristics
The Broad Breasted Bronze turkey is a favored breed by many, due to its fast growth, large size and broad breast. This breed is known for its bronze color as well as its high feed efficiency and meat yield.
Temperament
In terms of temperament, the Broad Breasted Bronze is docile, but not aggressive. It’s a good forager and will be in the backyard all day long looking for bugs and having fun with your children. Its calm personality makes it easy to raise without much effort on your part. The broad breasted bronze turkey is also an excellent mother; she lays many eggs every year and will incubate them diligently until they hatch into fluffy little fluffs.
Care and Feeding
First, choose your breed of turkey. The breed will affect the size of your turkeys and how quickly they grow, as well as their overall appearance. Perhaps most importantly, a certain breed will require different care and feeding than another one does. Once you’ve chosen a breed (or two), it’s time to start planning how and when to feed them throughout their lives. We recommend using a starter feed until they’re six weeks old, then switching them over to grower feed until they’re ten weeks old—although this depends largely on how quickly they grow in comparison with other turkeys within their age range (which varies depending on what type of bird it is). After this point we recommend moving onto finisher feed until 14 weeks old–but if any problems do arise during this period we encourage seeking out professional advice immediately before continuing down this path any further!
Health Concerns
Health concerns for the broad breasted bronze turkey include:
- Feeding. The broad breasted bronze turkey can be fed with a feeder or in troughs, and they may also be given grain mixes. In addition to these foods, turkeys should have access to fresh water at all times and receive calcium supplementation as well.
- Health problems caused by stress or improper care include feather plucking, anorexia (loss of appetite), cataracts and respiratory diseases such as bronchitis
